What is CPM Advertising?

What is CPM Advertising?

CPM advertising is also known as cost per impression advertising.  CPM is an acronym that stands for "Cost Per Thousand", where M comes from the roman numeral for 1,000.  Advertisers pay a fee per every 1,000 times an ad is shown in CPM advertising.

For example, you might offer advertising on your blog or webpage for $10 per 1,000 impressions.  The payment for CPM advertising depends only on showing the ad to visitors.  Visitors do not need to click on the ad or take any other action to trigger payment for CPM ads.

How Can You Make Money with CPM ads?

If you have a blog or website, you can sign up for advertising programs that offer CPM, such as AdSense from Google, or Chitika ads.  These services take bids for advertising on your blog or website and sell the advertising space to the highest bidder.  This is an easy way to generate revenue from advertising and requires almost no work!  Once you set up your advertising account, you will have a source of passive income that works for you all the time.
