What is a Blog?
The word blog is a combination of "web log" which became "blog" for short. A Blog is a site on the internet where the author (called a Blogger) posts content on a regular basis. The early blogs in the 1990's were in the form of a diary, journal, or general editorial content.
As the internet became more popular, blogs became more influential as the audience of popular blogs grew. Today, some companies publish blogs to communicate with customers, shareholders, and employees.
What is the Difference between a Blog and a Website?
The key features that typically distinguish a blog from a website:
- Blogs are written as posts that are organized by date
- Readers can subscribe to a blog to be notified when a new blog post is published
- Blogs typically have an area for comments for each post
- Blogs are generally written in an informal writing style- more like a personal letter than a formal publication
