Difference Between Windows 7 and 8
Windows 7 became available in October 2009, replacing Windows Vista. Windows 8 became available in October 2012.The most noticeable difference between Windows 7 and Windows 8:
- Windows 8 incorporates interface features for touch screen devices such as laptops with touch screens and tablets
- The Windows 8 Start Screen displays a grid of tiles that can show dynamic content
- Windows 8 also added authentication methods useful for touch screen platforms such as PINs and picture passwords
- Windows 8 updated Windows Explorer, renamed File Explorer in Windows 8
- Anti-virus has been added to Windows Defender
The Microsoft Surface Tablet runs Windows 8 to support touch screen features.
